Everything about it
Anonymous video chat should mean exactly that: you talk to someone new without handing over who you are. On PEE.CHAT, the Talk to Stranger page needs no account. You never type an email address, a phone number, a username or a password, and there is no profile with your photo for anyone to browse. On screen, the other person sees what your camera shows and hears what your microphone picks up, so you decide how much of yourself to share. You also keep the controls: your browser asks before the camera and microphone are used, you can switch them off during a chat, and you can skip to the next person at any moment. Here is what stays private, what the other person can actually see and hear, and how to make the most of your three controls.
What stays private without an account
Talk to Stranger asks nothing about you before your first chat. There is no form to fill in: no name, no email address, no phone number, no password to make up. Since you never sign up, no username, profile photo or follower list is attached to your conversations.
That has a very practical upside. Once you skip, the other person has no profile to look up and no inbox to write to, and you have no account to delete later. A random chat stays a random chat.
A free PEE.CHAT account remains optional and is never required for Talk to Stranger. You only create one if you want the rest of the site, for example to chat in live rooms, comment on posts or send tips.
What the other person can see and hear
On screen, the other person gets two things from you: the picture from your camera and the sound from your microphone. Both carry more than your face and your words.
The picture includes everything in the frame: family photos on the wall, papers on the desk, a mirror or a window that reflects part of the room, a second screen with notifications popping up. The sound includes everything within earshot: someone at home calling you by name, a television, a conversation in the next room.
So before you start, frame the camera close to your face, sit with a plain wall behind you and close the door. A few seconds of checking keep the chat about you, not about where you live.
Camera, microphone, skip: your three controls
Camera. No website can use it without your browser's permission, and you can refuse or take that permission back later in the site settings. During a chat, you can switch the camera off and on again without leaving the conversation.
Microphone. Mute it whenever you need a private moment, for example when someone walks into the room or calls you from the next one.
Skip. One click ends the current chat at once and a new match begins. No reason needed, no explanation owed. It is also your fastest privacy tool: use it as soon as someone pushes for personal details or makes you uneasy.
When you are done, close the tab: your browser stops using the camera and the microphone.
Anonymity works both ways
The person in front of you is anonymous too. They have not told you who they are either, and that is the deal on Talk to Stranger: nobody has to prove anything, and nobody has to explain why they skip.
Respect that. Do not dig for their surname, the street they live on or the name of their school, and do not take screenshots or record the conversation. Talk about the moment instead: what you are both doing, what you enjoy, roughly where in the world you are.
The reverse is just as true. The other person controls their own screen and, as with any video call, could capture it. Show only what you would be comfortable with anyone seeing, and skip anyone who does not play by these rules.
Frequently asked questions
Is Talk to Stranger really anonymous?
Yes, in the sense that you never have to say who you are: no account, no name, no email address, no phone number. The other person still sees your camera image and hears your voice, so how anonymous you stay also depends on what you show and what you say.
What can the other person see about me?
Your camera picture and your voice while they are on, plus whatever is in the frame or within earshot. Without an account there is no profile, no username and no follower list for them to look at, so your background and the sounds around you are the things to watch.
Can I switch my camera off and keep chatting?
Yes. During a chat you can turn your camera off or mute your microphone without leaving the conversation, then switch them back on when you are ready. Bear in mind that it is a video chat: the other person may prefer to see who they are talking to, so a close frame on your face is often a good middle ground.
Can the other person look me up after a chat?
Not through Talk to Stranger. Without an account there is no username or profile attached to you, so once you skip there is nothing for the other person to search for. That is exactly why you should keep your full name, phone number and social media accounts out of the conversation.
Can someone record the video chat?
The other person controls their own device, so, as with any video call, they could take a screenshot or record their screen. Keep it in mind: show only what you would be comfortable with anyone seeing, keep personal details out of the frame, and skip anyone who pressures you.
